In February 2026, Florencia Lopez Boo, Professor of Economics and Applied Psychology at NYU Steinhardt and Director of Global TIES for Children served on a virtual panel for an official event of the 64th Session of the UN Commission for Social Development. As a featured panelist, Dr. Lopez Boo shared experiences from a collaboration between Global TIES, Centres GHESKIO, and the Inter-American Development Bank. This collaboration focused on piloting an adaptation of a remote, early learning program for children in Haiti, whose school is often disrupted because of political violence and unrest. The discussion centered on the ways to safeguard children’s rights through social protections and early education in order to create and sustain just and resilient societies.
