Dr. Raphaela Henze
The Performing Arts Administration graduate program at NYU Steinhardt is pleased to welcome Fulbright award-winning scholar Dr. Raphaela Henze as a Research Affiliate. Beginning in June, Dr. Henze will spend four months at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development as part of her Fulbright-supported research stay.
Dr. Henze is Professor of Cultural Management at Heilbronn University in Germany. She is also Co-Investigator of the international and interdisciplinary Brokering Intercultural Exchange network, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Prior to joining Heilbronn University in 2010, she held senior management positions in ministries, universities, and foundations.
Her primary research interests include cultural value and the impact of globalization and internationalization on the creative sector. She also conducts research on cultural policy, particularly in South and Central America, as well as on community engagement and participatory art. Dr. Henze has taught at universities in Spain, Poland, Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Japan. In collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), she helped establish the double-degree master’s program in Intercultural Arts Management with the Universidad de las Artes in Buenos Aires.
Dr. Henze studied law at Humboldt University of Berlin and Université Paris Nanterre in France. She earned her Ph.D. from Ruhr University Bochum, where her research focused on digitization in legal education. As a postdoctoral scholar, she was a Visiting Scholar with the Law, Media & Culture Project at Yale Law School and at the National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER) in Tokyo, Japan. She also holds an MBA in Higher Education Management from the University of London.
