Paula Kramer's Introduction Speech for the NYU Jim Hinojosa Distinguished Alumni Award, April 2026:

I first met Sarah when she was starting her master's. I was an adjunct at NYU. I won’t tell you how long ago that was, as then you will know how old we are, but we go back a ways! Sarah did her master's and PhD under Jim Hinojosa’s mentorship.

Sarah is one of those special people who keeps on growing and giving to the profession. She has over 70 publications, numerous grants, and I can’t count how many abstracts and book chapters. Sarah worked side by side with Lucy Miller as the Director of Research at the STAR Institute, which Lucy founded. She helped develop and research many tools related to children’s sensory processing, and she has continued to develop theories related to intervention combining sensory processing and emotional well-being in children. She is now dedicating herself to teaching and mentoring others. To say that Sarah is a Star is an understatement! I know that Jim is smiling down now, just as I am smiling. Sarah is truly deserving of this award, and I applaud her.
