CSD Department Statement on Racial Injustice

Posted

The NYU Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders would like to express our strong support of those who are demonstrating and demanding the end of systemic racism and violence against the Black community in our country.

This current moment presents an opportunity to the faculty and staff in the NYU CSD community to listen, learn, and critically re-examine and change our policies and structures. As a Department, we are committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity, particularly for Black students and students of color from various racial, cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds.

We share a passion for helping others communicate more effectively. Our sincere hope is that the power of communication will move us in the right direction to bring us together and to facilitate change. We believe that our country and our institutions can and must do better to ensure that all groups, especially Black communities, have no doubt where we all stand: Black Lives Matter.

Updates from the Committee for Belonging, Justice, and Social Change

The NYU CSD Committee for Belonging, Justice, and Social Change has been working on several concrete steps to promote departmental equity and inclusivity that were directly suggested or inspired by our students, alumni, and larger community.
