NYU’s Visual Arts Administration Program is delighted to announce a new series of public programs directed by Valentina Castellani (Faculty). The Distinguished Alumni Series will highlight the achievements of VAA alumni, offering insight into their work and impact in the contemporary art world. These events are free and open to the public.

The first event, a conversation with Pepi Marchetti Franchi (VAA Alum), Senior Director, Gagosian Gallery in Rome, will be held virtually on February 20 at 11:30 AM EST (RSVP). Stay tuned for more information about future events in the series!

Melissa Clarke's (Faculty) debut solo sound publication, Arrays was reviewed in the December issue of The Wire. The album includes data sonnification material that began with Clarke’s journey exploring geophysical data sets from the Hudson river, to similar material from Antarctica and the Arctic.

The New Yorker’s photo department highlighted Lyle Ashton Harris (Faculty) in their 2024 roundup, “Photos That Delighted Us: The Year in New Yorker Photography.” Harris photographed curator Thelma Golden for her New Yorker profile earlier this year. Professor Harris was also named by The New York Times in their “Best Art of 2024” roundup.

Damien Davis (VAA Alum) is a featured artist in the major exhibition Flight Into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now at The Met. The exhibition, on view until February 17, 2025, presents nearly 200 works of art that demonstrate the many ways in which ancient Egypt has been a source of inspiration and identity for Black artists.

Alice Wang (MFA Alum) started a six-month residency at ISCP; Alice will be in residence until May 21, 2025. Wang was recently one of eight artists nominated for a Jimei x Arles Discovery Award and presented a solo exhibition at the Jimei Art Centre.
