NYU High School Summer Art Intensive: Studio Practice Final Exhibition
Thursday, July 30th from 4 — 6PM
The Commons & Rosenberg Galleries

Join us for the culmination of our 4-week High School Summer Art Intensive: Studio Practice program. This one-night exhibition and reception will showcase student work from all 5 of our courses: Sculpture, Painting & Drawing, Ceramics, Digital Making, and Printmaking.

Department Announcements

Erin Johnson (Faculty) is currently an artist-in-residence at Light Work, where she is developing a new film commission with Maia Chao.

Concurrently, Professor Johnson is participating in a group exhibition at Kiang Malingue in New York and a group exhibition at Brigitte Mulholland in Paris.

Professor Johnson’s solo exhibition at Essex Flowers, The Way Things Can Happen, was just included in the New York Times' "Gallery Shows to See in July".

Professor Johnson has an upcoming survey exhibition at the University of Georgia's contemporary art museum, the Athenaeum, which opens on August 29.

Summer News of Interest

Carol Bove (BFA Alum) was interviewed by Faith Salie for CBS News to share about how her artwork invites museum-goers into an environment of curiosity and playfulness. Bove's bent and warped steel sculptures tower above visitors to the artist's retrospective at New York's Guggenheim Museum.

Rachele Riley (BS Studio Art Alum) has received a Fulbright-Glasgow School of Art Distinguished Scholar Award to enable her to conduct research at The Glasgow School of Art on one of the most well-regarded and impactful scholarship programmes in the world.

Michelle Palatnik (BFA Alum) is currently participating in the Leipzig International Art Programme at the Spinnerei. During the residency, she developed Conditions of Seeing, a series of eight mixed-media paintings presented in the Spinnerei Summer Show at Archiv Massiv.

Lindsay Liang (BFA Student) was selected as a finalist for this year’s AXA Art Prize Competition. Kiki Smith (Adjunct Faculty) was amongst the panel of artist jurors who selected the 40 finalists.
