Stewart from The Police on drums

The NYU Percussion Ensemble presents an evening of percussion music joined by  guest composer Stewart Copeland, drummer, composer, and co-founder of The Police, in a program of world and New York premieres. The concert includes the world premiere of Copeland’s The Bells for percussion ensemble and choir, alongside the New York premiere of Gamelan D’Drum, presented in a new arrangement for gamelan and percussion ensemble by Sean Statser. Professor Jonathan Haas, Director of Percussion Studies, conducts.

Copeland’s long engagement with global percussion traditions and his ability to bridge popular and concert music make this an event of rare scope and excitement.
