Larry Ossei-Mensah is a Ghanaian-American curator, cultural critic, writer, and co-founder of ARTNOIR whose practice centers artists, storytelling, and expanding possibilities within the art ecosystem. Through exhibitions, public programs, and community initiatives in cities including London, Amsterdam, Rome, and São Paulo, Ossei-Mensah explores how contemporary art can foster connection, challenge narratives, and amplify artistic voices.
For nearly two decades, Ossei-Mensah has organized exhibitions and projects internationally and across the United States. His curatorial work has been presented at institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Museum of the African Diaspora, MASS MoCA, Denver Art Museum, ICA San Francisco, Seattle Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, and Storm King Art Center. He has collaborated with artists including Amoako Boafo, Rashid Johnson, Judy Chicago, Ana Mendieta, Toyin Ojih Odutola, and Firelei Báez, among others.
Formerly the Susanne Feld Hilberry Senior Curator at MOCAD and Curator-at-Large at BAM, Ossei-Mensah is committed to building meaningful relationships between artists, institutions, and communities while advocating for more equitable models of cultural production.
