The Research Alliance is thrilled to share new work published in the 48th issue of Voices in Urban Education, “The Boys Aren’t Broken, The Systems Are: Changing the Narrative about Young Men of Color.”
Research Alliance Deputy Director Dr. Adriana Villavicencio and Dr. Rosann Tung of NYU’s Metro Center authored “Disrupting Structural Racism: Counter-Narratives of Pride, Growth, and Transformation.” In addition, Expanded Success Initiative Director Paul Forbes and Research Alliance Analyst (III) Sarah Klevan authored, “My Brother’s Keeper: Nurturing In-School Relationships for Young Men of Color in New York City.”
VUE 48 was planned and produced by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University in collaboration with the Research Alliance for New York City Schools and the Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools, both at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. It builds on the September 2017 conference, “Studying Systemic Efforts to Improve Outcomes for Black and Latino Males,” which convened researchers and practitioners from seven districts across the country.
