Research Alliance Co-Sponsors "Data & Ethics" Event

On May 29, the Research Alliance joins the Institute for Human Development and Social Change (IHDSC), along with the Institute of Education Sciences-funded Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Research Training program (IES-PIRT), and the Center for Practice and Research at the Intersection of Information, Society, and Methodology (PRIISM), in hosting Data & Ethics: In the Public Sector for the Public Good?

The event will explore critical ethical questions and data challenges as they relate to education, criminal justice, and interdisciplinary research. At 5:30pm, the Research Alliance’s Executive Director James Kemple will moderate a discussion, “Should data collected by public agencies be released to the public?”. Panelists include:

  • Dr. Jack Buckley, President and Chief Scientist, Imbellus;
  • Dr. Jens Ludwig, Edwin A. and Betty L. Bergman Distinguished Service Professor, University of Chicago, and Director, University of Chicago Crime Lab;
  • Dr. Beth Noveck, Chief Innovation Officer, the State of New Jersey, and Director, The Governance Lab; and
  • Dr. Clarence Wardell III, Director, City Solutions, Results for America.
