Tue May 06
2025
5 pm - 6:30 pm ET

How do we support the creation of Welcoming, Affirming, and Healing Schools for all our children? Join Dr. Wenimo Okoya, Director of the Institute for Healing and Belonging in Schools (IHBS) at NYU Metro Center for an essential discussion on student well-being, educational equity and school transformation. This virtual conversation will offer a preliminary look at a mainstage panel discussion to be held at NYU Metro Center’s 2025 Annual Conference.

Our panelists for this webinar include:

  • Dr. Meisha Porter, Visiting Senior Fellow at the Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) and Former Chancellor, NYC Public School
  • Chauncy Young, Director, New Settlement Parent Action Committee
  • Darnese Daniels, Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships for Advancing Collective Equity, Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, NYC Public Schools/

Together, we’ll preview key themes and questions from our forthcoming NYU Metro Center Conference panel discussion on May 30th, diving into what it truly means to cultivate healing-centered, equity-driven, and belonging-focused practices in schools—especially in communities navigating systemic inequities.

Whether you're attending the full conference or are simply passionate about transforming education, this is a unique opportunity to hear from changemakers at the forefront of this work and engage in timely dialogue on how we can build more affirming school environments for all. Join us for the webinar on Tuesday May 6th, at 5 PM.
