Empowering Wellness: Prioritizing Emotional Health for Today’s High School Students

Wed Apr 09
6 pm - 7:30 pm ET

Today’s students face a multitude of real-world challenges. Many young people are forced to confront significant concerns and difficulties ranging from experiencing homelessness, and food insecurity, to gun violence, and robbery or other crime. When only 29% of 10th graders say that they get to learn about things that they are interested in, how do we combat the growing disengagement among adolescents? In this webinar, hear from both educators and youth alike, as they share key insights on not only how to best drive student engagement, but their cognitive and emotional involvement in learning as well.

Explore and obtain strategies to prioritize student emotional health and wellness during this NYU Metro Center 2025 Equity Now Pre-Conference Event. Hear from youth development and college and career preparation experts, including Lauren Camiolo, Licensed Social Worker at NYC’s Landmark High School; Karina Simancas, Licensed Bilingual Guidance Counselor/College Advisor at NYC’s Landmark High School; Shermaya Paul, NYU LPP Alumna. This conversation will be moderated by the Liberty Partnerships Program at NYU Metro Center Director, Yolanda Fordham, and NYU LPP Assistant Director, Jasrin Jalal.

Join us on Wednesday April 9th at 6pm for a rich and highly engaging conversation offering specific takeaways for educators, parents/caregivers, and most importantly youth.
