Critically Conscious Educators Rising (CCER) is a partnership between the NYCDOE's Division of Educational Development (DED) and The Metro Center at New York University (NYU Metro). CCER is designed for all educators looking to build their internal capacity to implement CRSE practices and mindsets in their spheres of influence. For those who are part of this year's partner districts, we’re excited to be working with you!

CCER is a mixture of online and in person convenings designed to build understanding of foundational concepts of critical consciousness and culturally responsive-sustaining education. Through self-reflective activities and engaging with the research how CR-SE increases student engagement and, in turn, increases student outcomes. Participants will be able to critically analyze their own practices and build capacity for affording young people opportunities to engage with identity, equity, and anti-oppression in school spaces.  Educators will also engage in healing centered activities designed to allow space to center health and wellbeing as necessary skills for sustaining equity mindsets.

The asynchronous CRSE modules (available to all NYCDOE educators on the WeLearn NYC platform) are a foundation for the sessions, and by registering, you are committing to complete them before the start of this series.

What you receive by registering:

CCER participants will meet monthly for professional learning sessions.  Session objectives will cover foundational modules from the WeLearn NYC platform in greater depth, and provide hands-on mindsets and healing centered practice guidance with the support of experts from NYU Metro Center

• Participants will receive per session and/or CTLE credits for all convenings from the CRSE central office.

What you commit to by registering:

• Completing the asynchronous CRSE modules available on the WeLearn platform prior to the start of the series. CRSE Modules will be available via the WeLearn platform.

• Participants will meet online or in person for 6 convenings (2/14, 3/6, 3/20, 4/3, 5/8, 5/22). Sessions will either be from 4-5:30pm or 6-7:30pm.

• Survey completion and communication with DED/NYU program team to improve on future programming
