Toward a Critical Improvement Science Approach: Practical Paradigm Shifts to. Create Strategic and Sustainable Adaptive
What does it look like to strategically and contextually slow down school improvement in order to de- center whiteness and facilitate decolonized school communities that are grounded in social justice? Participants will move through examining necessary shifts in beliefs, values, and biases, toward practical strategies aimed at creating contextually relevant and sustainable adaptive improvements in schools that disappear the presence and role of oppressive and dys-conscious cultural norms. Attendees will be exposed to real examples from local school districts and leave with strategies and materials designed to remove systemic whiteness from continuous improvement structures and initiatives. Further, participants will begin to consider various contextual factors and data, in order to better understand the most appropriate approaches to creating a more equitable experience for students.
