Loving Schools that Can Heal Us All: Parent Organizing for Culturally Responsive and Healing-Centered Education and School Environments
Presenter(s): Natasha Capers & Rasheedah Harris
In this workshop we will explore how Black, Brown, Immigrant and Indigenous parents from NYC have organized and fought for culturally responsive and sustaining education (CRSE). We will explore the tools they helped to develop to evaluate if their curriculum is culturally responsive and why CRSE is a critical lever in improving public education across the country for all students. Along with how healing centered school environments enrich learning and can bring healing from generational trauma.
