Leveraging Local Assets to Build a Regional Equity Network
Leading equity work in schools can often feel overwhelming and isolating. However, the challenges and opportunities of building equity-centered cultures transcend school walls and district boundaries. During this workshop session participants will learn about the Regional Equity Network (REN), a Rochester-area collective of educators and community organizations focused on collaboratively addressing issues of equity in schools. The session will explore the organic origins of REN and the effort to create a dynamic force for equity work in Rochester's urban, suburban, and rural school communities. Participants will access and explore REN materials and leave the session with an action plan to create their own networks of change. Throughout the session, the presenters will utilize and model the various engagement protocols at the heart of REN events.
