D.R.I.P. (Diversity-Resilience-Interactive-Perspective) Culturally Responsive Sustaining Instruction in Social Studies (Room 904)
In history classrooms, it's important to challenge traditional narratives emphasizing Eurocentrism and oppression by highlighting the contributions of historically marginalized voices. This training will focus on culturally relevant instructional strategies that actively reframe conventional approaches to teaching and learning in social studies. We will explore culturally sustaining instructional strategies that promote diversity, resilience, interactive learning, and diverse perspectives (D.R.I.P.) within the curriculum to achieve this goal. The training session will introduce techniques for teaching history using the D.R.I.P. method. Participants will learn effective instructional strategies that empower students to critically examine power structures and social inequalities, fostering vibrant dialogue and collaborative learning experiences.
