Intergenerational Healing: Closing the Gap between Immigrant Youth and Families

Intergenerational Healing: Closing the Gap between Immigrant Youth and Families (Room 907)

In Intergenerational Healing: Closing the Gap between Immigrant Youth and Families, participants will learn about past experiences and trauma that immigrant caregivers may hold and how youth are shaped by these challenges. Immigrant families in particular experience distinct differences in culture, communication/language, social-emotional understanding, and relational connection. Apex for Youth’s Unique Family Night program model works to alleviate barriers that immigrant youth and families face, through culturally responsive, educational workshops, and activities. After this workshop, participants will learn to adapt Apex’s community-based curriculum and framework into their role within the education space
