Remediation or Acceleration: The Path to Success for Long-Term ELLs
Presenters: Dr.Bernice Moro & Ron Woo
Long-term English Language Learners (LTEs), many of whom are also identified as students with disabilities, remain underserved in secondary education. Traditional instruction has often failed to address their linguistic and cultural needs, contributing to ongoing academic challenges and higher dropout rates. Implementing an accelerated, culturally responsive instructional model that cultivates an inclusive school climate and aligns with students’ diverse linguistic, cultural, and academic needs can help address these challenges. Participants will be provided with an accelerated instructional framework and will explore strategies for securing resources to implement this model effectively.
