Decolonizing Approaches to Enacting Paraprofessional Agency in Urban Schools
Decolonizing education involves identifying and interrupting systems of hierarchy in schools. In this workshop- the lead facilitator unpacks their work in supporting paraprofessionals of color in negotiating dimensions of race, class and power as they sought to validate their professional roles while working alongside primarily white teachers. Participants will leave this workshop with leadership practices for decolonizing urban schools through centering critical inquiry, collaborative problem-solving, and coaching support moves that promote agency.
