CRSE in Action: Three Years of Practice

CRSE in Action: Three Years of Practice (Room 910)

CRSE in Action puts into practice the work of taking our learning out of the CRSE "training" space and back into our classrooms, schools & district as a whole. To that end, the group is focused on fostering curricular & instructional practices, including pedagogy and physical learning environments, that will center marginalized students and begin the long work of transforming systemic educational practices to ameliorate the disproportionality that is prevalent throughout our district. Our work began with examining the data from our Climate Survey that confirmed our belief that historically marginalized students do not have a sense of belonging within our school community.

In this workshop, we will take participants through the evolution of our CRSE in Action work over the past three years.   Participants will come to understand our initial goals, the obstacles we encountered in the first year, our redirection for year two and the truths that we have uncovered moving through year three.  As we are coming to the conclusion of this year, we will share our data and the lessons that we have learned as co-facilitators.  It is our hope that participants will learn from our mistakes and our successes so that they can begin to take the work of CRSE and put it into action.
