Belonging Bound: Recruitment and Hiring Practices That Pave the Road to Equity 

Gates Chili celebrates diversity and is dedicated to creating a welcoming and affirming environment. However, state data showed troubling disparities in student success across subsets of the student population. This disproportionality led the district to create a strategic plan with one of the focus areas being recruitment, hiring and retention of diverse candidates, to better align with student demographics. Since 2019-20, the district has widened the pool of candidates and has seen a 17% increase in the diversity of applicants. From establishing systems and reducing bias to implementing norms and procedures for interviewing, participants will learn how to apply proven strategies for recruitment success
