All We Need is Each Other: Cultivating Hope, Healing, and Resiliency Among School-based Equity Leaders (Room 907)

In this workshop we will explore what it means to create healing- and wellness-centered learning spaces for educators who engage in equity work within their schools. In 2023, district leaders in Manhattan and Change Impact established a cohort of equity leaders that included educators and staff across 11 schools. As facilitators, we drew upon restorative and healing-centered practices to model for participants what being part of a community grounded in belonging, collective care, and accountability looks and feels like. During this workshop, we will explore the values, commitments, tools, and practices we utilized to support educators in their personal and professional journeys as restorative and healing-centered practitioners. Attendees of this workshop will then have the opportunity to dream up restorative, healing spaces for a community they are a part of toward the proliferation of grounded, joyful, and sustainable equity work in schools.
