Posted

Research Alliance Research Director Cheri Fancsali co-authored a new article that focuses on research conducted in afterschool settings. “The Unique Challenges of Afterschool Research” provides practical advice for evaluators and afterschool practitioners about how they can work together effectively. In this article, Fancsali and her co-authors, Lizzie Murchison, Katie Brohawn, Andrea D. Beesley, and Erin Stafford, describe how afterschool is unique, particularly in contrast to K–12 education; recommend ways to take afterschool’s unique features into account when designing and implementing studies; and present strategies to help form and maintain strong partnerships between evaluators and practitioners—to better meet the needs of programs and their staff, funders, students, and families alike.
