Our innovative, entry-level curriculum encompasses the study of normal and abnormal structure and function and the theory and practice of physical therapy.
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy student, you will develop into a competent, autonomous physical therapy practitioner with the expertise and skills to:
Examine and provide interventions for patients/clients across the life span facing impairments, functional limitations, injuries, and/or disabilities
Maintain and promote patient/client fitness, wellness, health, and quality of life
Ensure availability, accessibility, and excellence in the delivery of physical therapy services to patients/clients across the life span
Utilize research to support practice
Assist in the development of and advocacy for health policy standards tied to physical therapy practice
Establish a plan for professional development and life-long learning
Located in the heart of New York City, NYU Steinhardt’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program immerses you in one of the world’s most influential healthcare ecosystems. This three-year, full-time journey utilizes a high-touch learning environment that seamlessly integrates rigorous classroom instruction with Integrated Clinical Education.
Our forward-thinking generalist curriculum goes beyond the basics, offering deep training in orthopedics and neurology alongside high-demand specialties like pelvic health and oncology. As a movement specialist, you will leverage state-of-the-art labs to earn the DPT degree plus career-enhancing credentials, including CSCS and Pilates Mat I. As a graduate of the entry-level DPT, you will be a well-rounded, clinically-trained professional with the skills and expertise to work in a number of areas and careers. This includes becoming a practitioner, faculty for a physical therapy program, a supervisor in health and private facilities (hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, schools, nursing homes, private practices, health maintenance programs), and working within public service agencies.
Upon completion of the degree, you will be eligible to sit for professional licensure.

Most Recent Outcomes
Based on information collected on the classes of 2022 and 2023, student outcomes were as follows: the two-year graduation rate was 97.6%, the first-time two-year licensure exam pass rate was 81.2% and the ultimate pass rate was 98.6%. The two-year employment rate was 100%.
