Designed for high school students in the New York City area (grades 9-12), Saturday Workshops explore current social issues through interdisciplinary and multimedia creative inquiry over 9 weeks. Students choose from different themes such as climate change, racism and white supremacy, gender identity and bias, medical apartheid, economics, and politics. Through exploring the work of contemporary artists, class discussions, creative exercises, and field trips, participants create a body of work and develop a final project. Courses are taught by Steinhardt Art+Education MA students. The program concludes with a final exhibition of student work at NYU. No portfolio is needed to apply. This program is free and open to young artists of all experience levels.
