The NYU Queering and Elevating Empirical Research (QUEER) data lab, led by PRIISM's Daphna Harel and formed in Fall 2022, aims to improve data collection and statistical analysis as it pertains to improving the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community. Dr. Harel (she/her) works with research assistants from the Applied Statistics for Social Science Research Masters program to investigate issues pertaining to queerness and statistics. Recent projects include "Preferences Among Queer Individuals When Asking Gender, Sex & Sexuality Survey Questions" and "Improving the Accessibility of Transgender Voice Training with Visual-Acoustic Biofeedback" among others.
The lab will be hosting the Queer Empirical Research @ NYU Brown Bag Lunch Series during the fall and spring semesters. The series will feature informal talks by NYU scholars (including faculty, students, and other researchers) about their work in progress on these themes. Upcoming lunch seminars are posted on the PRIISM upcoming events page.
