Dr. Tod Mijanovich and colleagues published an article in the Substance Use & Misuse about a study that examined racial and ethnic inequalities in telehealth to people with Medicaid insurance in outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment clinics during the first six months of the pandemic in New York. The study found that Black and Latinx patients had fewer telehealth sessions compared to non-Latinx White patients, highlighting significant racial disparities in access to this care. However, Black patients at clinics serving a higher proportion of Medicaid patients used telehealth more, suggesting that the clinic's focus on Medicaid beneficiaries might help bridge some of these gaps.
