Supported by her National Institutes of Health grants housed PRIISM and the Music and Audio Research Laboratory (MARL), Dr. Tara McAllister and her team at the BITS Lab co-authored a paper titled “Telepractice Treatment of Residual Rhotic Errors Using App-Based Biofeedback: A Pilot Study” in the Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools (LSHSS) journal.
This study which was part of Laura Peterson’s capstone project, investigated the efficacy of app-based visual–acoustic biofeedback relative to nonbiofeedback treatment using a single-case randomization design. Although the team had to complete the study via telepratice because of the pandemic, the project led to some great insights including finding that their biofeedback and traditional treatment package was still effective when delivered over Zoom.
