Person-centered care system for addictions

Person-centered quality measurement and management in a system for addictions treatment in New York State

Amidst a continuing surge in opioid-related deaths driven by synthetic opioids, the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) is launching a comprehensive Quality Measurement and Management (QM2) strategy to transform its addiction treatment system. The core goal of this strategy is to drive person-centered care and improve client retention, reduce adverse events, and lower death rates by funding electronic health records and providing performance feedback to clinics.

Co-investigator Dr. Tod Mijanovich and NYU Grossman School of Medicine (GSOM) researchers will support this initiative by lending expertise in statistical methods for measurement validation and risk adjustment, ultimately helping to build and test a science-based QM2 system that holds clinics publicly accountable and improves treatment outcomes. This is a subaward from the NYU GSOM and funded by the National Institutes of Health.
