The Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE)—led by Editor-in-Chief and Associate Professor and Director of International Education Dana Burde, Senior Managing Editor Nathan Thompson (International Education), and Managing Editor Samantha Colón (MA ’21, International Education)— released JEiE Volume 11, Number 1, “Special Issue on Mobilizing an Effective, Equitable, and Just Data and Evidence Ecosystem for Education in Crisis and Conflict Contexts.”

In this special issue, the contributing authors share insights from research and field work conducted in East Africa, the Central Sahel, the Caribbean, and Central, South, and Southeast Asia. They present pioneering large-scale analyses of interventions in humanitarian contexts; show school leaders’ perspectives on crisis-affected communities’ evidence agendas; review ethical data collection and data stewardship in program design and implementation; discuss the benefits of scalable, context-relevant mechanisms for coordination and monitoring; and much more. As a nonprofit Diamond Open Access journal (no fees for authors or readers), all JEiE volumes, including this Special Issue, are available free of charge from the INEE website.

JEiE celebrated the release of the new publication with an evidence-sharing webinar in which the contributing authors discussed the research and field work featured in the Special Issue.
