Increase in Pre-K Enrollment in NYC from 2018 to 2019

A3SR Student Visualization Competition Winner, Jiejie Wang

Every few months, PRIISM runs a student visualization competition to highlight the talents of the Applied Statistics for Social Science Research (A3SR) graduate students.

The winning visualization for this round, submitted by A3SR student Jiejie Wang, depicts the increase of Pre-K enrollment with the Asian population in NYC from 2018 to 2019. NYC's Department of Education (DOE) started to offer 'Pre-K for All' in 2014, and started to offer “3k” programs in 2017. The data from 2018 to 2019 seems to indicate that the major increase in Pre-K enrollment happened among Asian populations because only the distribution of Asian race is consistent with the distribution of Pre-K enrollment increase.
