Artificial Intelligence and Speech Sound Disorders

An NIH R01 grant affiliated with PRIISM ("Biofeedback-Enhanced Treatment for Speech Sound Disorder"; Tara McAllister and Jennifer Hill) completed work under an administrative supplement to increase the artificial intelligence and machine learning readiness of NIH-supported health data. These efforts resulted in the publication of two large-scale speech corpora and a companion publication ("Reproducible Speech Research With the Artificial Intelligence–Ready PERCEPT Corpora") explaining how the corpora can be used to improve the performance of speech recognition technology on the speech of children and individuals with communication disorders.
