The Algorithms, Data, and Public Policy Technology (ADAPPT) Lab, led by faculty director and founder, Dr. Alex Chohlas-Wood and faculty co-director Dr. Ravi Shroff,  received the Center for Civic Futures' inaugural AI in Action Award under the "Most Creative AI Use Case" category for their race-blind charging project. For this project, the research team created a generative AI algorithm that automatically removes race-related details from police reports, enabling prosecutors to make completely race-blind charging decisions.
