Building a Base for Education Justice Organizing (2 hours)
This workshop is designed for organizers, parent and youth leaders, and anyone else committed to building a broad-base of parents/caregivers and/or young people to lead local fights for education equity and justice. Through interactive activities and discussions in small and large groups, participants will explore strategies for outreach, leadership development, and campaign development. Participants will have time to think concretely about first or next steps in their own organizing.
Building Equitable and Antiracist Coalitions for Education Justice (2 hours)
This workshop is designed for community organizing groups, labor, and others that want to work together toward a vision of education and racial justice. Participants will explore practices and strategies that ensure that all voices are heard and that those most impacted by injustices in education are in leadership roles. Through interactive large and small group activities, discussions, and presentations, we will examine concepts such as positionality, race and class privilege, and antiracism.
