Culturally Responsive Professional Learning Community (CRPLC)

Description:

The Culturally Responsive Professional Learning Community (CRPLC) is designed to build the capacity of school equity teams to create a CRSE vision and implementation plan for their school communities. Participants attend monthly online workshop sessions that will include time for team coaching and action planning.

Between November and June, teams can schedule one-on-one coaching or join with other teams for group coaching around specific topics or needs. Participants are encouraged to bring work artifacts, data, or problems of practice to ground coaching sessions in ongoing implementation work.

Series Objectives:

  • Build shared language to support awareness and understanding of CRSE principles, practices and prerequisites
  • Collaboratively develop capacity to engage in critical self reflection and critical institutional reflection
  • Develop CRSE implementation plans that center uplifting the needs of students who have been historically marginalized, with the goal of creating protocols for systematized, equity-based practices

What schools receive by registering:

  • Monthly professional learning sessions and practice sharing with peer educators from across the city who are also implementing the NYSED CRSE Framework. Sessions will expand on themes introduced in the CRSE modules that are already available on WeLearn for all NYCDOE staff.
  • Opportunities for direct coaching and office hours with NYU Metro Center’s team of Equity Coaches

What schools commit to by registering:

  • Completing the asynchronous CRSE modules available on the WeLearn platform prior to November 4 (available on WeLearn now for all NYCDOE staff!)
  • Attendance at 5 monthly CRPLC sessions by at least 2 members of the School Equity Team
  • Survey completion and communication with NYU program team to improve on future programming
