Eligibility: Second-Year MS or MS/OTD Students

The Frieda J. Behlen Occupational Therapy Scholarship is an endowed fund created principally by gifts from NYU OT alumni to honor the memory of Frieda J. Behlen, founder and longtime chair of NYU's Department of Occupational Therapy. Income generated by the endowment is awarded annually to students who demonstrate superior academic achievement as well as financial need. The NYU OT Awards Committee is pleased to be able to offer several tuition scholarships. These awards will be directly applied towards tuition for the students' first Level II Fieldwork placement.

Jim Hinojosa Doctoral Terminal Project Award

Eligibility: PhD or Post Professional OTD candidates

Established in 2022, this award honors Dr. Jim Hinojosa’s legacy as a mentor, leader, and passionate advocate in the field of occupational therapy and in the NYU Steinhardt Department of OT. In keeping with Dr. Hinojosa’s desire to help doctoral students complete their studies, this award supports NYU OT doctoral students who are currently working towards the completion of their terminal projects in the fields of pediatrics or education.

An award of up to $5,000 will be granted annually to PhD or post-professional OTD candidates who anticipate degree conferral within two semesters. Candidates will be evaluated based on evidence of outstanding scholarship and their contributions to the field.
