Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy

The Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy is committed to the belief that everyone possesses a sensitivity to music that can be utilized for personal growth and development. We provide a variety of services, including individual music therapy, group music therapy sessions, and music instruction (including group classes) for people of all ages. The Nordoff-Robbins Center conducts research on the creative and developmental processes of music therapy, as well as offers training and resources for current and prospective music therapists.

Renée Fleming Neuroarts Investigator Award

In collaboration with the Music and Audio Research Lab (MARL), the Nordoff-Robbins Center was recently awarded the Renée Fleming Neuroarts Investigator Award. The award supports a new study that uses smartwatch technology developed by the BEATLab at McMaster University to investigate social motor synchrony and its connection with music engagement and social communication. In a meeting with Renée Fleming, Dr. Anna Palumbo and Dr. Alan Turry represented the research team at the Nordoff-Robbins Center to explain the significance of this research along with collaborators Dr. Pablo Ripollés and Dr. Lauren Fink.
