In the ASD Nest Support Project, we believe strongly that parents and professionals should learn from the real experts: people on the autism spectrum themselves. In this workshop, families heard from several autistic self-advocates about their experiences. Topics include:

  • learning about their diagnosis
  • family dynamics and support
  • their school experience
  • special interest areas
  • autism in the media

Jackie Meggesto is an Autistic woman living in New York City, currently working as an iOS developer. She loves trains, dinosaurs, and smashing stereotypes about Autism.

Jason Ross is an Autistic rights activist and self-advocate who is studying for his Master's degree at CUNY School of Professional Studies in disability studies.

Roman Haberli is a student at New York University where he is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering.

Frank Matej Cernik, II is finishing his Master's thesis in Humanities and Social Thought at NYU, and is growing into his role as Scoria Press' Lead Developmental Editor.
