Mindfulness and Conflict Resolution

During a Time of Crisis

The goal of this 6-part series is to help you deal with conflicts during this time of Covid-19 and have information available in different areas that will assist with mindfulness and conflict resolution techniques. A collaboration with the Fordham RBERN and CSTAC at Fordham.

Session 1 – Accepting What Is

Acceptance is key when trying to navigate any type of conflict; throughout this session we will focus on accepting what is, what we can control and what we cannot, by understanding the basics of how we all deal with conflict.

Session 2 – Controlling the Uncontrollable – Establishing Routine

When things are out of control we need to establish consistent routines. This session will focus on structure, why it is necessary every day, but especially now.

Session 3 – Conflict Management and De-Escalation Techniques for Oneself & Others in the Household

Conflict will happen.  It happens when life is normal, and even more prevalent in times of crisis.  You will be introduced to the five different types of conflict management styles.

Session 4 – Acknowledging, Accepting and Allowing Feelings

Emotions are genuine and it is alright to be angry, fearful, anxious, happy or overwhelmed.  This session will focus on acknowledging that emotions are real, accepting that it is alright to have feelings.

Session 5 – Mindfulness Techniques and Stress Relief Strategies that works for you and your family

Learning how to de-stress is key when dealing with conflict. This session will explain why mindfulness techniques should be personalized, and how one can find a stress relief that works for them and their children that is healthy.

Session 6 – Reaching out for Help – Now is not the time to do this on your own

This session will review some of the many resources available to help families.
