NOVEMBER 2024 

Implementing Secondary ELA Curricula with Entering, Emerging and Low Transitioning ELLs: Approaches, Strategies and Resources (Gr. 6-12) | ONLINE | 3-PART SERIES
This series is designed for ELA teachers, ELA supervisors and ENL/Bilingual specialists in middle schools and high schools where new arrivals are enrolled in ENL/ELA courses and a mandated ELA curriculum is in use. It consists of three sessions, with the second session specialized for either middle level or high school educators in order to model the adaptation process with widely-used ELA curricula (Please attend one or the other, as appropriate for your grade level). It will focus on what is necessary to implement the ELA curriculum in stage-appropriate ways with Entering, Emerging and Low Transitioning ELLs and share approaches, strategies and resources for doing so.

In this workshop, we will review and discuss the benefits of Higher Education, qualifications to apply for and attend College, review the types of Colleges and Universities, Higher Education Programs that support success and college degree completion, conversations with your child about attending college, how to select the best college with your child, and review the college application process.
This workshop series will be held in English, Chinese, Haitian-Creole, Russian and Spanish.

Pathways to Teacher Certification for Professionals and Individuals with Foreign Credentials (Online)
In this workshop participants will receive a broad overview of the eligibility requirements and many pathways available to become a Certified Teacher in New York State. All New York State public school teachers must have a New York State teacher certification in order to teach. 
Audience: Professionals with career experiences or completed degrees in their home country; AND professionals with or without degrees interested in changing their current careers and becoming a Certified Teacher in New York State.

ELL Identification Process for Students with an IEP Who Enroll or Re-Enter a NYS School & The Purpose of the Language Proficiency Team (LPT)
ONLINE TWO-PART SERIES
This two-part series will provide information and guidance regarding the admission process for students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP), are newly enrolling or re-entering a NYS school and are potential English Language Learners (ELLs) based on the Initial Screening. This process includes NYS Preschool students with an IEP entering Kindergarten. The purpose and role of the Language Proficiency Team (LPT) members will be addressed, including key factors that must be considered when recommending whether or not a potential ELL with an IEP should be administered the NYSITELL.
Audience: School and District Administrators responsible for meeting NYS Regulations CR Part 154-2 & CR Part 154-3.
