New York State English Language Learner Parent Hotline

Welcome to the New York State English Language Learner Parent Hotline. It is critical to have an informed, empowered community of parents, guardians and other persons in parental relation to ensure that our English Language Learners (ELLs) are well served.

This Hotline was created to provide parents, guardians and other persons in parental relation of ELLs with information about their rights and services for their children pursuant to Commissioner’s Regulation 154. It also provides a mechanism to respond to specific inquiries about the delivery of these services.

Special informational brochures have been prepared for parents of ELLs:

The Parent Hotline also responds to inquiries regarding the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) which protects all students from discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on race, religion, gender, national origin, ethnic group, and sexual orientation. This includes online and in-person harassment. Information regarding your DASA rights, including a one-page Know Your Rights flyer, Incident Reporting Form, and List of School Responsibilities may be found here in English.  This information is also translated into the New York State’s top ten languages and may be found below:
العربية (Arabic), বাংলা (Bengali), 中文 (Simplified Chinese), 中文 (Traditional Chinese), Français (French), Ayisyen (Haitian), ကညီ (Karen), नेपाली (Nepali), Русский (Russian), Español (Spanish), and اردو (Urdu).

If you have a specific inquiry regarding your rights or services for your child, you may contact us by completing an inquiry form here, or call us at (800) 469-8224. If you prefer, you can download this inquiry form  and email it to us at nysparenthotline@nyu.edu, or mail it to us at:
