Woodwind Faculty: Vicki Bodner

Vicki Bodner is solo oboist with Orchestra New England, Ufonia, The Music Project, Musical Elements, Thurnauer Chamber Music Society, Columbia Chamber Players, Arcadia, St. James Church, The New York Art Ensemble, Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, "One Life to Live" and with John Zorn and is a member of Riverside Symphony and the Fairfield Orchestra. She also records for films and television in both New York and Los Angeles. As a soloist she has performed many times on National Public Television, including performances of the Bach Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe and the Telemann Concerto for Oboe and Trumpets and on network TV, the Vaughn Williams Blake Songs for Soprano and Oboe. She has also been heard many times on NPR, QXR, NCN and BAI in live performances of solo or chamber works. On "Live from the 10 spot" she performed with Matchbox 20 on MTV.

Her festival performances have included the Next Wave, Aspen, Caramoor, Bang on a Can, Rome, Waterloo, Seville, Mostly Mozart and White Mountains festivals and she has toured extensively with her groups in the US, Canada, Europe and in South America where she has also given master classes. She has recorded with artists as diverse as Marilyn Horne, Anthony Newman, John Zorn, Benjamin Verdery, Marc Ribot, Harvie Swartz, Gil Goldstein, Butch Morris, Dawn Upshaw, Michael Convertino, Emerson Quartet, David Newman, Daniel Asia, Wendy Blackstone and Michael Gordon as well as with her orchestras and chamber groups.

Professor Bodner's teachers include Sal Amato, Ronald Roseman, Albert Goltzer, (NYU Steinhardt faculty member) Keith Underwood, Vince Penzarella and Herman Gersten. She has been on the faculty of Wesleyan University, the University of Bridgeport, the St. David's School.
