Woodwind Faculty: Gina Cuffari

Gina Cuffari, bassoonist, has been praised for her "sound that is by turns sensuous, lyric, and fast moving" (Palm Beach Daily News). She is a regular performer with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Riverside Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and Westchester Philharmonic. She also performs frequently with the American Composers Orchestra, Long Island Philharmonic, Opera Orchestra of NY, and American Ballet Theater. Gina has been a featured soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Astoria Symphony.

Gina is a founding member of the Scarborough Trio, a flute, bassoon, and piano ensemble. The trio has performed extensively throughout the United States and has garnered top prizes at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Yellow Springs National Chamber Music Competition. The trio gave their professional debut concert at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as winners of the Artists International NY Jury Debut Award.

Gina is currently the bassoonist of the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and a member of the Phoenix Chamber Ensemble. She is a frequent performer with the contemporary ensemble Alarm Will Sound, and has participated in productions at Miller Theater, Merkin Hall, and the Muziekgebouw aan't IJ (Amsterdam). She has also performed with the contemporary ensembles Sequitur and the SEM Ensemble. As part of the Orchestra of St. Luke's Arts Education Program, Gina has participated in chamber music concerts throughout NYC's public schools and museums. She has performed at Lincoln Center with the BQE Project, an ensemble that performs original music with silent films, and has had several guest artist appearances with Quintet of the Americas. Gina has appeared with the North Country Chamber Players in New Hampshire and has toured the Midwest as the guest artist of the Chanticleer String Quartet. She has also performed in multiple productions at the LaMama Theater as a member of the Scenery Ensemble.
