Financial Aid and Scholarships

Global Media Scholars have special access to two departmental stipends. And, like other NYU students, they can access study abroad financial aid and scholarships through NYU's global scholarships and external sources of funding.

The GMS Site Ambassador Program

GMS Site Ambassadors are awarded a $500 stipend and participate in a leadership development program remotely under the guidance of MCC's academic advisors. Site Ambassadors organize community building events for their GMS cohort, publish social media stories about their academic experiences abroad, and advise their peers. Four awards are presented each semester.

The GMS Research Fund

The Global Media Scholars Research fund supports self-directed student work related to student research inside and outside of the classroom. Each semester Global Media Scholars can devise a research or media project and propose a budget to support their work. Students can apply for funding to kick start a creative project, purchase books, cover travel and fees to attend a conference, or to help offset an unpaid internship. The funding level and number of awards presented varies, and is dependent on the submission pool and amounts requested. Students may apply for up to $500 in research funding per semester, but smaller and larger awards are invited and reviewed on a case by case basis.
