NY Cares Coat Drive for ‘Sandy’ Victims

The NYU Wallerstein Collaborative for Urban Environmental Education is starting an NY Cares Coat Drive location today, with all outerwear donations going to victims of Sandy. Students, staff, and friends are all welcome to donate. We have a box set up currently and will have additional set-ups later this week. The drive will be held through the end of the semester and is set up in our offices at 5-11 University Place, ground floor of Weinstein Hall, right behind Peet’s Coffee.

Grad Students: Breakfast with the Librarians

Grads, as you prepare for the final stretch of the fall semester, join NYU Libraries for a breakfast event where you can talk with librarians about your research project(s) and take care of those lingering to-do list items. We’ll have specialists from across the disciplines who can help get you (re)oriented to our resources, get you started with citation management tools, and help you get the most out of our collections and services. This informal event lasts for two hours, and you can come and go as you like.

Point Foundation Scholarships

Point Foundation, established in 2001, was initially funded by a grant from Bruce C. Lindstrom & Carl T. Strickland. Point Foundation is what it is today—the premier national LGBTQ non-profit organization designed to nurture the LGBTQ leaders of the next generation – because of the generous support of others. Dean’s List – Change in Policy

Beginning with the academic year 2012-2013 2013-2014, the Dean’s List will no longer be compiled at the end of each fall and spring term.

Effective Fall, 2012, the Dean’s List will be computed at the end of each academic year, excluding both January term and summer term. Students whose degrees will be conferred in January will be eligible for the Dean’s List at the end of the fall term. All other students must meet the requirements below in both the fall and spring term to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

The Dean’s List is open to matriculated undergraduate students who achieved a GPA of 3.7 or higher (fall term only for January graduates and both fall and spring terms for all other students) in at least 28 graded units with no grades of IP/IF/I or P (only when the student elected to take the course pass/fail). The GPA is calculated to two decimal places but is not rounded up.

Education Pioneers, Wednesday, Oct 24, 2012 — 12pm to 1pm

Education Pioneers will be hosting an on-campus information session about its fellowship opportunities for graduate students. The Graduate School Fellowship Program is a full-time, paid, ten-week summer program during which talented graduate students (“Fellows”) work with schools, districts, nonprofits, and other education-focused organizations (“Partners”). Fellows leverage their skills and knowledge to complete a mission-critical consulting project. In addition to their full-time consulting work, Fellows convene in regional cohorts for signature program events including: five full-day workshops on key education reform topics, an end of summer retrospective event, and professional networking opportunities designed to expand Fellows’ knowledge and professional networks. Open to graduate students.

Get your tickets for the 2012 NYU Entrepreneurs Festival

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the 2012 NYU Entrepreneurs Festival is a two-day celebration of startups and entrepreneurship for the NYU community. Over the course of this 2-day celebration, NYU alumni, faculty and student entrepreneurs representing most every school at NYU, will come together to share their startup stories through a series of keynotes, panels, roundtables, workshops, a venture showcase and a big party.

Featured NYU entrepreneur speakers this year include Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and Square; Herb Kelleher, founder of Southwest Airlines; Rachel Sterne Haot, founder of GroundReport and Chief Digital Officer of NYC; and Alexandre Douzet, co-founder of The Ladders and over 30 other NYU entrepreneurs.  The Festival kicks off Friday, November 2 at 1pm and runs through Saturday, November 3. A full agenda, list of speakers and links to purchase tickets can be found at: http://nyue.org/festival.
