Looking for space to work on a collaborative project? Bobst Library has group study rooms available for your use! These rooms come in a variety of sizes, from small 1-2 person rooms, to 4-6 person rooms, to rooms that hold 10-12. Group study rooms may be reserved in advance for use by NYU students. After a successful pilot year we are excited to begin recruiting a second cohort of students for 2015-2016! This yearlong fellowship, which is open to rising sophomores and juniors on the Washington Square Campus, will equip you with the knowledge and skills to expand your potential and capacity to work ethically, inclusively and collaboratively with others and impact the world in meaningful ways. The program offers:
- Leadership development workshops
- A 360-degree leadership assessment
- Individual leadership development
- One-on-one coaching with alumni leaders
- A team challenge for you to experience the core leadership processes of setting direction, aligning efforts, building commitment and delivering results.
Ask a peer and a faculty or staff member for a recommendation and apply by 12:00pm EST on May 4, 2015. You will need to be enrolled in New York City for the academic calendar Fall 2015 – Spring 2016 to be eligible to apply. NYU Steinhardt’s Office of Counseling & Student Services is working in partnership with NYU’s Health Promotion Office to offer Action Zone! on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 11am to 1pm in Pless Hall, 1st Floor Lounge. Lunch will be served.
Action Zone! NYU (formerly known as Step Up! NYU) is a bystander intervention training for risk reduction. Topic areas include, but are not limited to:
- eating disorders
- unhealthy relationships
- substance use
- mental health
- bias language
Studies show that most people want to help, but very few actually do. We explore this phenomenon as well as when to intervene and when not to; safe, early, and effective intervention; and pro-social behavior theory with interactivity and facilitated practice using Augusto Boal’s Forum Theatre model. By participating in the Action Zone! you can be a part of reducing risk and shifting cultural norms at NYU!
This opportunity is open to NYU Steinhardt students, faculty, and staff. Lunch will be provided.
