The Center for the Study of Transformative Lives at NYU is excited to present a special screening of King in the Wilderness, a new HBO film by Peter Kunhardt, centered on the last years of Martin Luther King Jr. This screening is in conjunction with a panel discussion featuring the film’s executive producer Trey Ellis, NYU Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Lisa Coleman, Pulitzer Prize winning historian David Levering Lewis, and distinguished others (to be announced!).

This event is presented as part of the new SKIRBALL TALKS series, and is co-sponsored by the NYU Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation, NYU Tisch, and NYU Steinhardt.

The event will be held on Monday, April 9th, 2018, at 6:30 pm at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 LaGuardia Place New York, NY 10012.

The Multifaith Advisory Council (MAC) is a group of undergraduate student leaders (sophomores to seniors) from diverse religious and spiritual backgrounds who gather weekly to create sacred community and engage in meaningful, authentic dialogue together, develop multifaith leadership and community organizing skills, and educate the wider NYU community on the values and practices of multifaith engagement. MAC members receive $1000 yearly stipends for their contributions to the Global Spiritual Life community and receive access to leadership development opportunities in the areas of religious literacy, social justice, community organizing, and mindfulness practice.

IPAC Movie Night: In the Time of the Butterflies – March 29, 2018

During the month that commemorates all the women that have fought for human rights and gender equality, IPAC will be presenting a movie that shows how three women defied one of the most dangerous dictators in the Americas: Leonidas Trujillo. In the Time of the Butterflies presents the story of the Mirabal sisters, who became a symbol against gender violence and the power that every woman has to change her own world.

Over 300 volunteers make up our Welcome Week Leader team, in addition to 16 Welcome Week Captains and Chairs who plan and coordinate staffing for all 500+ Welcome Week events. Being a Welcome Week Leader is a great leadership opportunity to get involved, feel more connected to campus, make new friends, and truly have an experience where you create a positive difference in the transition of more than 6,000 incoming first year and transfer students!
