Global buddies is an initiative aimed toward assisting international students with their academic and social transition to NYU and New York City. The program pairs at least one international student with one domestic student for a full semester. Domestic students are asked to help facilitate their international peer’s transition based on their individual needs. As a result, domestic students will gain greater cultural understanding and leadership experience. Pairings are expected to meet informally as often as needed, but at least once per month. There will also be planned opportunities such as a larger meet and greet, social events, and other planned opportunities.

We’ll have specialists from across the disciplines who can help get you (re)oriented to our resources, get you started with citation management tools, and help you get the most out of our collections and services. This informal event lasts for two hours, and you can come and go as you like during that time.

Share your story of studying outside your home country and get a prize for it. NYU’s Office of Global Services (OGS) invites you to join the International Education Week 2016 Video Contest. Do so by submitting a video that documents any aspect of your experience studying outside your home country. Learn more about the contest here and be sure to enter by November 8, 2016.
Some possible ideas for your video
- Ten things you wish you knew before studying outside your home country
- Any culture shock/shift experience you’ve had and how you coped with it
- Ten lessons you learned while studying outside your home country
- Introduce your host city/town to others
- Your most valuable experience studying outside your home country
How to enter
- You must submit a video by filling out information and uploading your video using this entry form
- Submissions will not be accepted after Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
- Each student is limited to one entry.
Have you served as a graduate assistant, teaching assistant or co-instructor? Have you thought about how will you share this experience with potential employers? In this seminar presented by the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development you will begin to identify the skills acquired as a result of your experience as a facilitator as well as how you highlight these skills in a resume, cover letter and during an interview.

Scholly matches students to potential scholarships after you create a profile to indicate your majors, interests, background and qualifications. The average award is between $500 and $1,000. Once matched, students can navigate out of the Scholly platform to apply for scholarships directly from the organizations listed.
