Scholarships for Student Caregivers

Amount: $1,000 to two students.

Description: The SeniorHomes.com Caregiver Scholarship is intended for students who are passionate about helping seniors live healthy lives and are pursuing careers in senior care. The award can be used towards tuition and/or books.

Applicant Eligibility: Applicants must be actively enrolled in or accepted to attend a U.S. college or university and pursuing a career in senior care.

Application Requirements: Applicants must submit either a 500-word essay or 2-3 minute video addressing a topic related to elder care.

Let’s Talk International – March 13, 2019

We hope you’ll join other undergraduate and graduate students for our next session of Let’s Talk. Let’s Talk is a program to meet new friends, and explore different topics of international concern. This month we will be joined by the Office of Global  Services for a special discussion.

Let’s Talk International is a semi-structured discussion group and safe space for study abroad returnees, international students, third culture kids, and anybody interested in international/intercultural experiences to explore topics such as identity development, cultural adjustment, cross-cultural relationships, and general navigation of life across cultures. 

While topics and short activities provide a framework, students drive the conversation in directions most relevant to them. Continued attendance is encouraged, though students are not required to attend all sessions.

We are excited to have a visit from Alum Mickela Mallozzi who is a four-time Emmy® Award-winning Host and Executive Producer of Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi, a travel series highlighting the diversity of dance which airs on PBS stations nationwide and on Amazon Prime globally.  She has been featured in The New York Times, Travel Channel, Dance Magazine, Forbes, American Express, and AFAR Media, and she has performed on various television shows including Sesame Street and The Doctor Oz Show.

At this Keynote Mickela will share how her experiences at Steinhardt and NYU have shaped her path to create a career based on her two passions, dance and travel. From her summer semester study away to NYU’s unique city campus/culture to her time working in the music industry to her reconnecting to the NYU community for support at her project’s inception, she’s excited to share with students how she used the foundation she built at NYU to create a career in an area she hadn’t envisioned when she was a student. “Unpack with IPAC” an International Student Townhall -Wednesday, February 27

Are you struggling with an international student issue or don’t seem to understand how a NYU policy applies to you? Don’t understand what your professor and advisor ask of you? Can’t figure why you need to take the New Student Seminar? Need help with writing your papers? Then come to our townhall to understand what resources are available to you as an NYU Steinhardt student. Raise some of the concerns you have while partaking in some delicious treats! Feel free to come with questions or submit one beforehand. We hope to see you there!

2019 NPYA Series

Auditions have been set for the 2019 NPYA series. We’d love to see you come out and audition and/or pass along this information to non-Equity actors who might be interested in working with us this summer!

Friday, May 3, 4:00-8:00 p.m., Education Building, room 307 (3rd floor), 35 W. 4th Street
Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Education Building, room 307 (3rd floor), 35 W. 4th Street

Show up and we’ll fit you in!
Bring yourself and a headshot and resume – no monologue needed.
Total audition time is 30-60 minutes, depending on how many sides you read.

We are a non-Equity program (students may ask AEA for an educational exception).
No financial compensation beyond a 7-day Metrocard is available to actors in the series.

When is the 2019 series? – June 2-23
Week 1: 6/2-6/9    Week 2: 6/9-6/16    Week 3: 6/16-6/23
There is a different script each week – check out our website, &/or Facebook page for info on each script. You can audition for one, two, or all three scripts. Rehearsals during the series are 6-10 p.m. Sunday through Friday and on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. Readings are on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Quench: Trans HERstory – Friday, March 1

Join us in celebrating Women’s Herstory with a conversation about important trans women in history. We’ll be exploring the rich history of trans women’s activism from the past, to present, and into the future. Attendees will be able to ask questions and share their own experiences. Conversations will be facilitated by Graduate Outreach Engagement Coordinator at NYU LGBTQ Center, Teagan Rabuano.

Quench is the NYU LGBTQ Student Center’s queer free lunch series connecting LGBTQ students to NYU & NYC resources.

Free Food Provided. This event is for those in NYU community.
